Yahya Abdul-Mateen II

Yahya stars in James Wan’s hit movie, “Aquaman,” for DC Comics and Warner Bros. He is currently shooting one of the leads of Damon Lindelof’s new HBO series, “Watchmen,” as well as the feature adaptation of the acclaimed novel, “Sweetness in the Belly,” for director Zeresenay Mehrai, who won the World Cinema Dramatic Award at Sundance 2014.

Yahya can next be seen on Academy Award® winner Jordan Peele’s upcoming feature film, “Us,” for Universal, which will premiere on March 8, 2019 at SXSW and director Joe Robert Cole’s film, “All Day and a Night,” for Netflix which will be released on July 30, 2019. Previous credits include Fox’s “The Greatest Showman on Earth,” A24’s “Sidney Hall,” Paramount’s “Baywatch” and Netflix’s “First Match,” which premiered at SXSW 2018 and won the Audience Award.

In 2015, Yahya graduated from Yale University with an MFA in drama and was the sole recipient of the prestigious Herschel Williams Prize; this prize is awarded to one acting student per graduating class with outstanding ability.
